Randal Jelks, associate professor of history, will discuss "Civil Rights Movement Politics in a Great Lakes City: The Confluence of Race, Ethnicity, and Culture in the Search for Political Power" on Thursday, February 16, from 2-4 p.m. in rooms 215/216 of the Kirkhof Center.
Jelks has published both scholarly and journalistic articles. His book, African Americans in the Furniture City: The Struggle for Civil Rights in Grand Rapids, has just been published by the University of Illinois Press.
