Tweddale is survived by his wife, Nancy, four children and their families. He retired in August 2005, after serving the university for 40 years as registrar, director of admissions, director of institutional analysis, and as acting assistant vice president for academic affairs.
He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Michigan State University. He taught physics and math in Grand Rapids until he joined the Grand Valley administration in 1965.
A memorial service was held May 3. The family suggests that memorials be given to the music fund of Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of Michigan, 1260 Ekhart, NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503.
