Jean Doss, senior associate lobbyist for Capitol Services, Inc., will speak from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, in the Kirkhof Center, Grand River Room, on the Allendale Campus. The lecture is free and open to the public. A sign language interpreter will be at the event.
Since joining Capitol Services in 1991, Doss has been actively involved in direct lobbying on behalf of various nonprofit organizations and professional associations, including the Michigan Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, Food Bank Council of Michigan, Michigan Counseling Association, Michigan Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, and Families Against Mandatory Minimums (prison sentencing laws).
She is a member of the advisory committee for the Nokomis Foundation and the Institute for Women's Policy Research. She has also served as an advisory committee member for the Michigan Women's Foundation, and on state Rep. Doug Hart's Blue Ribbon Panel on Gender Equity in High School Athletics.
A discussion about affirmative action and MCRI will take place on the Allendale Campus on October 18, beginning at 4 p.m. Speakers include Linda Chavez, chair of the Center for Equal Opportunity and FOX News analyst, and Mark Fancher, ACLU of Michigan attorney.
