KCON recognized in Lansing for geriatric nursing curriculum

Gov. Jennifer Granholm and several state legislators paid special tribute to the Kirkhof College of Nursing, recognizing it for winning a national award for geriatric nursing curriculum.

In October, KCON received the 2005 award for offering an exemplary gerontology curriculum in a clinical setting. The award was from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the John A. Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing.

The tribute from Lansing was initiated by Rep. Barb Vander Veen (R-Allendale), who had been a nurse and currently sits on the West Michigan Nursing Advisory Council. It was also signed by Sen. Wayne Kuipers and Reps. Jerry Kooiman and Glenn Steil Jr.
