Japanese filmmaker Sayoko Kinoshita will visit Grand Valley State University on Tuesday, November 28. In a free evening program open to the public, she will present nine animation films from around the world.
Kinoshita is an internationally renowned filmmaker and the current president of the Association International du Film d'Animation, a non-commercial international association with the goal of promoting the art of animation and encouraging international understanding among animators. She is also director of the biennial Hiroshima Festival, which she co-founded with her late husband Renzo.
Kinoshita will visit with Grand Valley animation students, and then speak at the special evening program, Animations for Peace. It will feature several of her animations and other award winning films from past Hiroshima International Animation festivals. Animations for Peace, sponsored by the School of Communications and the Liberal Studies Department, is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. at 174 Lake Superior Hall, Allendale Campus.
