Gayle R. Davis, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, said accreditation provides the foundation "for our entire academic enterprise and is essential to our remaining a prosperous and academically sound university community." She has appointed 12 faculty and staff members to serve on the NCA Re-Accreditation Self-Study Steering Committee, which will be led by Julia Guevara, accreditation and assessment officer.
Guevara said the committee will begin work immediately and conclude in Spring 2009, following notification of re-accreditation.
The committee members are:
- Jim Bachmeier, associate vice president for Business and Finance
- Lynn Blue, vice provost and dean of Academic Services and Information Technology
- Maria Cimitile, associate dean for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
- Robert Franciosi, professor of English and chair of University Academic Senate
- Catherine Frerichs, director of the Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center
- George Grant Jr., associate professor of social work and MSW program director
- Carol Griffin, associate professor of biology and director of the General Education Program
- Matt McLogan, vice president for University Relations
- Bart Merkle, vice provost and dean of students
- James Moyer, assistant vice president for Facilities Planning
- Barbara Reinken, associate professor of education
- Jane Toot, dean of the College of Health Professions
The committee will begin to develop and implement a coordinated plan for gathering information from colleges, departments, other academic units, and a range of stakeholders internal and external to the university. Davis said several subcommittees will also be appointed.
