For the first time, Alumni Relations and the University Club are seeking more faculty and staff participation during the 12-hour relay. Last year, more than 60 teams participated in the event and raised more than $75,000. Kim Schmidt, associate director of Alumni Relations, said few of those teams consisted of faculty or staff members.
We're pushing it more this year as a way for faculty members to get to know their students outside the classroom, she said.
Three kickoff meetings are planned for the following dates:
- January 10, 9 p.m., Kirkhof Center, Pere Marquette room;
- January 12, 6 p.m., DeVos Center, University Club room
- January 18, 9 p.m., Kirkhof Center, Pere Marquette room.
