GVSU students hold Katrina benefit

A group of Grand Valley State University students has organized a benefit for the victims of Hurricane Katrina Saturday, Sept. 10 from 2-8 p.m.

Grand Valley Rescue Team, a student committee, is coordinating an event titled Students Offering Support on Saturday, Sept. 10 in Robinson Field from 2-8 p.m. to raise funds for Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts. Events such as face painting, a volleyball tournament and a dunk tank, will be offered until 8 p.m., and a general donations center will be open to accept additional donations. There will be a volleyball tournament. Teams planning on participating in the tournament are expected to make a team donation in order to play.

The musical group After School Special will perform at 3 p.m. A silent auction runs from 4-7 p.m., and a raffle drawing runs from 5-6 p.m., offering prizes such as University of Michigan football tickets and assorted jewelry.
