GRAND HAVEN, Mich. - The Michigan United Conservation Clubs' "Out-of-Doors Television" program will be taping Thursday, June 2, aboard one of Grand Valley State University's research vessels, the D.J. Angus.
On board will be an entire class from Kalamazoo Middle School, thanks to classmate Rachel Clark. She won the Great Lakes Invasive Species Student Poster Contest sponsored by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. Its Office of Great Lakes will be presenting Rachel with a copy of her poster that has been signed by the Governor and plaqued so the student can hang it on her wall. The taping will include an interview with Clark and two students given honorable mentions, Heather Briggs and Annie Ruff.
Clark and her class will be going on the D.J. Angus for a 2.5-hour trip, departing at noon from Government Pond, Grand Haven. The MUCC taping will discuss Aquatic Invasive Species Awareness Week, June 4-12, and its purpose, the poster contest, the Grand Valley State University Annis Water Resources Institute Outreach Program, and will include the students participating in the program on the vessel. Showtime listings can be found at www.mucc.org/MOODTelevision.htm
