Peer coaching is a five-step process for observing, giving feedback, and coaching a peer. It is an effective way of providing support for faculty attempting to adopt new and advanced teaching methods and of building academic community.
The workshop will be presented by Barbara Gottesmann, chair of the Department of Educational Leadership at San Jose State University and author of Peer Coaching for Educators.
Ed Baum, professor of chemistry and director of CESME, said the workshop will be attended by college and university faculty from across the nation who are participating in an NSF-supported program to introduce process-oriented guided-inquiry instruction into the college curriculum.
