Grand Valley State University joins Ferris State University in mourning
the death of Bulldog freshman defensive end Matt Sklom. As a result,
Saturday's game between the two universities has been cancelled.
Sklom, of Blue Island, Ill. collapsed during a routine tackling drill
Wednesday. Attempts to save his life were unsuccessful.
The 18-year-old Sklom came to Ferris as a 2002 Eisenhower High School
graduate and multi-sport high-school athlete from Blue Island, Ill.,
near Chicago. He was a CAD Drafting/Tool Design major who joined the
Bulldog football team as a walk-on this fall. For more information,
