New coat of color

'Amaranth,' a sculpture by Dutch artist Cyril Lixenberg, receives some finishing touches. The 15-foot-tall sculpture was installed in front of Mackinac Hall earlier this week. Its name means 'an imaginary flower that never dies,' says Lixenberg, who also has given Grand Valley about 300 works on paper over the last 40 years. The Art Gallery will showcase Lixenberg's work during an October exhibit.
