Kieh takes leave

George Kieh, Jr., dean of International Education at Grand Valley, has taken a leave of absence from the university for the 2002-03 academic year to work in the political science department at Morehouse College in Atlanta.

Wendy Wenner, associate vice president for Academic Affairs, was named acting dean of International Education while continuing her duties in the Provost's Office. An assistant dean will be hired to oversee day-to-day affairs at the Padnos International Center.

'George and Wendy will work together during this year to plan for continued development of the Padnos Center,' said Provost Gayle Davis.

Wenner said she will continue to concentrate on international partnerships that Kieh established last year with universities in Ghana, Cuba and the Netherlands, and continue developing new educational programs and other initiatives.
