Kennedy appointed to Grand Valley board

Gov. John Engler has appointed John C. Kennedy to the Grand Valley State University Board of Trustees, which is responsible for enacting school rules and bylaws and setting tuition rates.

Kennedy, of Grand Rapids, is president and CEO of Autocam Corp., a worldwide manufacturer of precision machined components for the automotive and medical instruments industries. He is a member of the boards of Comerica Bank, Riviera Die and Tool Co., Sligh Furniture Co. and Lacks Enterprises. He is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy and a member of Michigan Business Roundtable, in addition to serving on several community capital campaign committees. He served on the state Transportation Committee from 1993-1999.

Kennedy replaces Paul Hillegonds, of Plymouth, who resigned earlier this year. He is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2004.
