A friendly bet between the governors of Michigan and North Dakota will send a touch of Grand Valley to North Dakota on Tuesday.
Raul Fernandez, Herman Miller materials manager, (right) and Matt McLogan, vice president for university relations, stand behind an Aeron chair with a GVSU logo. The chair will be sent to North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven, who won a bet against Michigan Gov. John Engler over the NCAA Division II football championship.
The championship game was played December 8 between GVSU and the University of North Dakota. The Fighting Sioux won, so Engler's wager of a Herman Miller chair was shipped to North Dakota in time for Hoeven's State of the State address on January 16.
The special Aeron chair with a Grand Valley logo will reside in the governor's office, after a presentation from UND President Charles Kupchella.Hoeven had wagered a rocking chair, made of North Dakota wood, with the UND logo.
