Grand Valley State University welcomes the appointments of Dorothy
Johnson and Lucille Taylor to its Board of Trustees and thanks departing
trustee Donnalee Holton for her years of service to the university.
'I am honored to have been reappointed to the Board of Trustees,'
Johnson said. 'I look forward to my continued service to Grand Valley,
which is one of our state's educational jewels.'
Lucille Taylor currently serves as Governor Engler's legal counsel. She
says she was particularly pleased to have been appointed to the Grand
Valley Board. 'I have been watching Grand Valley's growth and maturation
for some time and am very impressed with what I have seen,' Taylor said.
'I am also impressed with the leadership being shown by President Mark
Murray. He not only recognizes, but embraces opportunities and
challenges the university faces as it moves forward.'
President Murray issued the following statement:
'Governor Engler has appointed to our Board of Trustees two women with
great experience and skill. Dorothy Johnson, who presently chairs the
Board, is respected throughout Michigan for her leadership in
establishing the Council of Michigan Foundations. Lucille Taylor is
admired in legal and governmental circles for her wisdom and careful
attention to detail. Both will be excellent Board members.'
'I want to thank Donnalee Holton for her six years of stellar service
as a trustee. As chair of the finance committee, she is due much credit
for the excellent financial condition of the university. She is a model
board member. Her insights and leadership will benefit students of this
university for many years to come,' Murray concluded.
