More than 200 high school students attended the seventh annual Congressional Youth Leadership Summit this week on GVSU's Allendale Campus.
High school juniors in Michigan's Second Congressional District, represented by U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-Holland), are selected by their school officials to attend the summit.
Highlights included the following:
¿Welcome address by Hoekstra, followed by presentation by Dan Seaborn, radio commentator.
¿Students participated in Lessons in Leadership group sessions led by Hoekstra and other area officials and business representatives.
¿Presentation by Tom Tufts, spokesman for America's Promise, volunteer organization founded by Colin Powell.
