The Michigan Senate took a break from its business Wednesday to honor
retiring GVSU President Arend D. Lubbers. The honor was a surprise to
Lubbers, whose true purpose in Lansing was kept a secret. Lubbers is
retiring at the end of this month after 32 years at the helm of GVSU.
