Grand Value

Grand Valley State University has been named among the nation's top universities for offering the best value for tuition dollars, according to a recently published book.

The Kaplan/Newsweek College Catalog 2002

rated GVSU as tops in two areas:

¿ Best Value for Tuition Dollar;

¿ Responsive to Individual Student Financial Aid Needs.

To compile the catalog, Kaplan/Newsweek surveyed high school guidance counselors for admissions information on more than 1,000 colleges and universities. In addition to statistical information, many comments from guidance counselors are included in the catalog. The Kaplan/Newsweek College Catalog 2002 is available now in bookstores. Survey excerpts will appear in Kaplan/Newsweek How to Get into College, available at newsstands in August.

GVSU was the only Michigan university or college to earn the Best Value for Tuition Dollar rating and the only state public university to be named Responsive to Individual Student Financial Aid Needs. Grand Valley President Mark Murray said the ratings acknowledge the university's mission.

The individual attention our students receive and the value of a GVSU education are two of the hallmarks of Grand Valley quality, Murray said. It is very satisfying to receive national recognition such as this, and the Kaplan/Newsweek ranking sends another clear message about our goal of providing the best undergraduate experience in Michigan.

With a fall enrollment that will near 20,000, GVSU offers 75 undergraduate and 15 graduate degree programs, with campuses in Allendale, Grand Rapids, Holland, and centers in Muskegon and Traverse City established in cooperation with local community colleges.
