Grand Valley State University hosted a panel discussion with some of its expert scholars on terrorism, the Middle East, and other aspects of this unfolding story.
The event included opening remarks from GVSU President Mark A. Murray; terrorism expert and GVSU Social Sciences Dean Jonathan White speaking on the topic Is this war or terrorism: How do we live now?; School of Communications faculty member Tim Penning speaking on the media coverage of the tragedy; and the chair of the GVSU Middle Eastern Studies program, James Goode, discussing why there are such strong anti-U.S. feelings around the world.
The remarks were followed by a question-and-answer session and a performance by a choir led by GVSU music professor Ellen Pool, which sang America the Beautiful and The Blessing of Aaron.
