Students outfitted in lab coats representing GVSU's health care, nursing, and life science programs highlighted Wednesday's groundbreaking ceremony for the Center for Health Professions.
The five-story building at Michigan and Lafayette streets in Grand Rapids is scheduled for completion in 2003. Douglas Kindschi, dean of Science and Mathematics, said the building allows room for expanding the university's academic disciplines beyond its scheduled occupants.
This Center will help to develop new programs, Kindschi said. And all of our education programs will stress an integrated, team approach to health care.
The Center's location, near the life sciences corridor of research institutes and hospitals, helps to solidify the university's role in health care and research, said President Arend D. Lubbers.
