Dec 10, 2001
More than 600 new GVSU graduates walked onstage to cheers as they
received their degrees in the December Commencement ceremony Saturday
morning. GVSU President Mark Murray, right, conferred an honorary doctor
of public service degree on Ismael Ahmed, center, co-founder and
director of the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services
(ACCESS) in Dearborn. This degree recognizes your important and
continuous contributions to our state, our nation, and our world, Murray said.
