Science On Tap

Science on Tap, co-sponsored by GVSU and SpeakEZ Lounge, is an opportunity for conversation, debate and interaction between scientists and the public while drinking beer. Each month at SpeakEZ, a knowledgeable expert hosts a scientific discussion about current topics in the news such as ebola and the paleo diet. This is a great chance to exercise your academic interests in a casual setting while enjoying great food and adult beverages.

October's Event Information:

Speaker: Chris Pearl, Dept. of Biomedical Sciences, Grand Valley State University

Event Description:

Insulin’s discovery in 1921 turned diabetes from a fatal diagnosis to a chronic, but livable, condition. Come hear the early history of hormones leading to insulin’s identification and rapid impact in patient care. We will then journey over the last 100 years to see how insulin therapy has changed and developed into its current form.
