The University Library and Student Senate will be teaming up once again for the annual GVSU Open Symposium. With a student focus this year, we are working to educate and advocate for increased affordability of scholarly resources. VP of Educational Affairs Faith Kidd, the Educational Affairs Committee, Matt Ruen, the Institute on Open Educational Resources team and the University Libraries are excited to offer two in-person events this year.

On October 27, 2021 @1pm in the Pew Library MPR we will be hosting Barriers to Accessing Knowledge: A roundtable discussion on Open Educational Resources This roundtable will be a combination of students, faculty, and staff working to conquer open ended questions regarding OER so they can utilize them more on the GVSU campus and advocate together.

On October 28, 2021 @4:30 pm in the Pere Marquette room, we will be hosting a "What is OER Workshop" with an interactive presentation composed and presented by the library and Educational Affairs Committee.

We will also be bolstering our asynchronous materials on the library website.
