Students add sticky notes to a window during a design thinking workshop

The GVSU Design Thinking Academy in Brooks College is hosting a design thinking Starter Kit session using resources from Stanford University’s d.school. This is a virtual introduction to methods and mindsets associated with design thinking – a creative, collaborative problem-solving approach.

This hour-long session is fast-pace and interactive filled with advice from working designers. Regardless of your familiarity with design thinking you’ll learn something new during this session.

Here’s a short video that will give you a feel for what the session will be like.

We’ll be together for an hour, working on the first part of the session. Further workshops will delve into further aspects of design thinking. You don’t need to participate in all of the sessions to learn something new about using creativity and collaboration to find innovative solutions to challenging problems, but it wouldn’t hurt.

All you’ll need for this session are 3 sheets of paper (without lines works best), a pen, and a computer with an internet connection and a free basic Zoom account.

Each session meets the requirements for INT 101 and 201 experiences. We look forward to learning with you.

Free and open to all. RSVP to receive the Zoom meeting link.
