This semester's Mental health Awareness initiatives project is... Dare to Care

WHAT IS THE EVENT? It is a donation drive competition among all Grand Valley faculty members, staff, and students for the homeless of Grand Rapids, families in need, and/or Replenish (our on-campus student food pantry).

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED? Between now and February 27th we ask you to find a team, in your team your goal is to donate as much of one item as you feasibly can. Please contact [email protected] with your team name and what you plan to donate by January 30th. Please note, February 27th is when we will be collecting all of the donations. Donation collection will be in the Kirkhof Lobby from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on the 27th.

WHAT IS DARE TO CARE? "Dare to Care" is the Mental Health Awareness Initiative's slogan for the Winter 2023 semester to encourage every member at Grand Valley to show up for their peers. "Dare to Care" is about finding ways to support, love, encourage, and strength our laker family. This initial event is to create a healthy competition and inspire community among all members at GVSU.

Mental Health Awareness Initiative is an on campus group that wants to start the conversation on "life beyond the stigma." We wish to address the stigma around mental health and mental illness head on while creating opportunities for those who are struggling to find support and resources from us. Furthermore, we are an outreach-focused group and an institution for student well-being. Our foundation is support and compassion always as we work and help students on their journey to a healthy mind.
