Elizabeth “Lizzy” Freed, M.Sc. (Wageningen University and Research, the Netherlands) is an agricultural scientist in the Farming Systems Ecology department at Wageningen University with a specialization in policy and practices. Lizzy’s most recent research through the Wageningen University and Research (WUR) in the Netherlands was conducted in collaboration with the CGIAR research program on Climate Change, Agriculture, and Food Security (CCAFS), focused on the use of climate-smart agriculture in the Nationally Determined Contributions for the Paris Agreement, using case study data from Ethiopia and Colombia. This work culminated in a joint presentation to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s Global Alliance for Climate-Smart Agriculture (GACSA), which can be viewed on the link below. Lizzy has lived and worked agricultural communities across Africa, the Americas, and Western Europe. She is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer and remains committed to finding sustainable solutions to complex problems in the nexus of policy and science.
