GVSU Esports Takes a Podium Finish at F3 LAN

The event served as an early test for GVSU’s teams as they prepare for the fall competitive season. Senior Valorant player Ryan S. reflected on the team’s performance, sharing, “F3 was a great start to what I hope will be a highly successful season. It showed us what things we were doing well and what needed work, and renewed our excitement for improving together as a team.” Freshman Spencer A. added, “It felt great to get a podium finish, beat Ferris, and prove we belong here.”

Beyond Valorant, GVSU’s Rocket League squad had a strong showing, going head-to-head with some of the top collegiate teams in North America. Sophomore Nicholas Miller stated, "The tourney was a fun experience, especially with the unique setup. The teams that were in it were all really good competition, and I’m excited to hopefully compete in it again next year". The Super Smash Bros players turned in high-placing finishes in the solo bracket, highlighting a promising start across all programs. The Lakers now turn their attention to upcoming fall league play, building on this momentum for a successful season ahead.
