NOVEMBER SPOTLIGHT:
JORGE VASQUEZ
Jorge came to Michigan in 2003 as part of an international cultural
exchange program to do 1 year of High school. His destination was
North Muskegon. After graduation, he realized that there were many
universities in Michigan, so he applied to a couple, but choose Grand
Valley because he really enjoyed the Business School programs and the
campuses in Allendale and GR.
Jorge has a Bachelor in Business
Administration, 2 majors in business and marketing. He did a study
abroad program in Budapest Hungary in 2007, and 2 internships at 2
companies in West Michigan.
He graduated in December 2008. Before
graduation, a company had offered him a job in Mexico City and he went
back in January 2009. Jorge worked in the automotive industry back in
Mexico until in December 2018 they offered him a position at OSRAM
CONTINENTAL to work as a Sales Manager based out of Troy Michigan.
Jorge moved with his wife back to Michigan in 2019, and his customer
base is in Michigan and GR.
He says: "It is nice to be back in Michigan, to be close to GVSU and I had been visiting again as a proud Alumni. I believe GVSU gave a lot of opportunities to have a better understanding of the needs to get a job and an international exposure that I had been applying to my job for the last 10 years."
