ONE TENURE-TRACK: Writing

Writing: The Department of Writing at Grand Valley State University is seeking a tenure-track assistant professor in writing beginning August, 2010. A Ph.D. or terminal degree or international equivalent is preferred by time of employment. The typical teaching load is 3 courses per semester. ABD with a completion date of December 31, 2010 may be considered for hire at the Instructor level.

 

Candidates are required to have expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • professional writing
  • health and science writing
  • technical communication
  • business communication
  • commercial magazine writing

We are especially interested in those with experience in writing and publication in more than one language. U.S. News and World Report 2010 ranked GVSU as the #1 up and coming Master’s institution in the Midwest. With this hire, the Writing Department is looking to further Grand Valley’s tradition of innovation and national leadership in undergraduate writing programs.

The Department of Writing (200 writing majors) offers a unique and dynamic undergraduate degree program offering a B.A. in Writing that includes both creative and professional writing courses encouraging multi-genre study.
