Green Books Ready

The “Green Book”: We are now distributing  A Guide to First-Year Writing at Grand Valley State University through the book store. Students should purchase the book at the University Book Store ($6.50).  It contains a great deal of information that can save teachers space in the syllabus. It also contains an important FAQ about portfolio-group grading, and it’s important that the program be assured that all students have this information in hand at the beginning of the semester. There are new portfolios added to the book, and our hope is that teachers will use these samples of student writing as prompts for discussion about topics, organization, style, grades, and other aspects of successful writing. The book should be required (and used) in every WRT 150 section. The books are already ordered for your section and a desk copy is available to you now through the department office. Teachers may pick it up any time. If you teach WRT 150, please make sure on the first day of class that everyone has purchased a copy. The department must now pay for extra or lost copies of this book so keep track of your desk copy.
