 Faculty/Staff Writing Retreats

Week-long writing retreats are offered for faculty and staff in May and August each year. During the academic year, come to Faculty/Staff Fridays in the Writing Center, which are mini-retreats held every other Friday afternoon!

*****

Are you working on a dissertation, book manuscript, article, grant application, or other writing project that would benefit from five days of hard work this summer? Do you need a quiet space in which to write, the support of colleagues who are also writing, and feedback to your work?

If you'd like to make a great deal of progress on a writing project, register for one of the Faculty/Staff Writing Retreats sponsored by the Fred Meijer Center for Writing.

In addition to having your own writing space, you may request responses to your writing and help with specific writing-related issues.

Details:
Ellen Schendel, Associate Professor of Writing and Director of the Fred Meijer Center for Writing and Michigan Authors, will facilitate the retreat. The Center will provide a laptop computer for your use (if you don't have your own to bring), as well as writing resources and goal-setting activities to keep you focused on your work. The Center will ensure you're well nourished and alert by providing snacks and drinks throughout the day and lunch at noon.

Participants are expected to spend at least seven hours per day on writing or writing-related activities and join other participants for lunch each day.

Registration Information:
Registration forms will be made available in February 2010. Please note that while faculty working on dissertations will be given first priority in registering for the retreat, there will most likely be plenty of room available to faculty working on other projects!

Retreats fill quickly, so plan to register early!
