Therapeutic Recreation
TR Interventions





The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is involved in providing services which include assessment/diagnosis, treatment/rehabilitation, remediation, education, and recreation participation to promote changes in the client's/patient's physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and leisure behavior. Roles the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist's may assume in providing services are that of therapist, educator, facilitator, supervisor, and administrator.

The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist uses many different modalities or intervention techniques to help persons achieve their desired outcomes. These interventions include but are not limited to:

Aquatic Therapy Horticulture Therapy Stress Managment
Adventure Based Counseling Animal Facilitated Therapy Therapeutic Horsemanship
Expressive Therapies Community Reintegration Relaxation Therapy
Therapeutic Play Reminiscence Wheelchair Sports
