GVSU Student Clubs

Geography and Sustainable Planning Department is actively supporting several student organizations, such as Geography Club, Urban Planning Association, Ravines Club, and Environmental Coalition

Association of Student Geographers

The Grand Valley Association of Student Geographers and Planners is for students of the Geography and Sustainable Planning Department and students outside of the geography major.

This group engages in activities like attending regional and national academic conferences, presenting student research, organizing local service and volunteering opportunities, enjoying the outdoors, and forming a student peer and faculty interest group.

The Association of Student Geographers and Planners will meet on the following Wednesdays:

9/13/17, 9/27/17, 10/11/17, 10/25/17, 11/8/17, 11/15/17, 11/29/17

Time: 12:00-12:50

Room: MAK A2161

Urban Planning Association

The Urban Planning Association will have it's first meeting of the year Wednesday, September 6th, 2017, from 10am to 11am in Mackinac Hall D1141. Meetings will be held every Wednesday from 10am-11am in the same room to discuss everything from current events in the world of planning to networking opportunities and upcoming events in the Urban Planning Association.  We will do some fun activities to get to know each other better and to develop a better understanding of what the UPA is truly about at GVSU. In college, exposure to the professional world is extremely necessary and the UPA will help you tremendously in career building no matter what major you are! Planning is a field that is heavily interdisciplinary, so I cannot reiterate enough that the UPA is for anyone with even the slightest interest in planning.

Some events we have scheduled for the year include:

MAP West Kick-Off Event: Thursday, October 19th, 2017, 4-5:30pm,

Grand Valley Metropolitan Council, 678 Front Ave NW # 200, Grand Rapids, MI 49504, USA

MAP Emerging Planning Professional Career Building Event: November 2017 (date not yet announced, but mostly likely a Friday night), Lansing, MI

SMAP 2018: Friday, February 2nd, 2018, 8am-5pm,
