Graduate Teacher Certification (GTC) is available to selected candidates who already possess a bachelor's degree and teachable major. Candidates must meet admission criteria in effect at the time of application and be able to undertake full-time graduate study for approximately one year.

Upon completion of certification requirements, students may continue coursework toward the master's degree in elementary or secondary education. Because of the need for careful assessment in deciding whether to pursue the graduate or undergraduate program, interested students must first contact College of Education Student Information and Services Center at (616-331-6650) to register for one of the regularly scheduled information meetings.  The program has a November 15th application deadline each year.
