Pumpkins, Football, and Murder?! GVSU Homecoming 2019

At Grand Valley, Homecoming is much more than just a football game. Homecoming connects current students and alumni from all eras of Grand Valley’s history: alumni celebrating their fiftieth reunion, those who graduated from Grand Valley at the turn of the century, and even Lakers who graduated just five years ago. Every fall, GVSU Homecoming week presents fun-filled events and opportunities for you and your fellow Lakers to revel in the pride of calling GV home, reflect on the memories and friends you’ve already made, and celebrate the experiences that are yet to come. How are you going to get involved and show your Laker pride?
Pumpkin Painting Contest
Kick-off Homecoming with a pumpkin painting contest on October 23 in the Thornapple Room in Kirkhof. From 4:30-6:30 p.m., you can come and paint a spooky pumpkin to present to a panel of judges. The finalists will be posted on the Campus Activities Board Facebook page!
Hollywood Murder Mystery Party
If you fancy yourself a sleuth, consider attending the interactive Hollywood Murder Mystery Party starting at 8 p.m. on October 23. Taking place in the Pere Marquette Room in Kirkhof, this customized show will challenge you to determine which suspect committed the murder, how they did it, and why.
Homecoming Pep Rally
On October 24, get hype with your fellow Lakers at the Homecoming Pep Rally! From 5-8 p.m. on the Kirkhof lobby, there will be a DJ, giveaways, snacks, crafts, and best of all, a costume contest.
Lip Sync Battle
In the Fieldhouse from 7:30-11 p.m. on October 25, you’ll find the much anticipated Homecoming Lip Sync Battle! Come cheer on your fellow lakers as they Lip Sync it out and vote for your favorite!
GVSU Escape Rooms
If you’ve ever wanted to try solving perplexing puzzles or mind-bending riddles, check out GV’s very own escape rooms on October 26! Your adventure begins at 10 a.m. in various rooms in Kirkhof. You and your group of four to eight friends will be challenged to free yourselves in under an hour. At 2:30 p.m. there will be a pizza party for all who participated and prizes for the teams with the fastest times. Registration is required and space is limited, so make sure to reserve your spot as soon as possible!
Homecoming Football Game
On October 26, wrap up your Saturday with some football at Lubbers Stadium! Grand Valley will go head-to-head with Davenport University at 7 p.m., and all Lakers are encouraged to come and cheer on our school as we take down the Panthers!
