Nonprofit Volunteer & Internship Fair

Posted on September 14, 2017

The Community Service Learning Center (CSLC) is inviting you to their biannual Nonprofit Volunteer & Internship Fair on September 14 from 1 - 3 p.m. on the lawn outside Kirkhof. Students can meet local nonprofits passionate about serving and building community in West Michigan. If you’re looking for volunteer and internship opportunities, this is an event you’ll want to check out!

The CSLC partners with many different nonprofit organizations in the Grand Rapids area, and 78 of those partners will be attending the fair! This is an incredible opportunity for you to find an organization and meet the people in charge face-to-face, so you can stand out amongst other applicants.

Hailey Merritt

Many students find internships through the CSLC’s resources. Hailey Merritt, a third year student and Public and Nonprofit Administration major, received an email that caught her attention about volunteer and internship opportunities with ArtPrize. After volunteering with them, she realized that she wanted to continue working with the organization. Through information provided by the CSLC, Merritt applied and received a position as the Development Intern, engaging with sponsors and donors who help make the incredible month of ArtPrize happen! When asked about her love for the field, Merritt said, “There’s more of a sense of community within a nonprofit.”

The fair is just one day out of the semester, but the CSLC is an ongoing resource to help you find internship and volunteer experiences with our Nonprofit Community Partners. They have plenty of connections for you to tap into to find meaningful opportunities. This is just one of many different success stories, and your story could be next! If you are interested in receiving similar emails as mentioned in Merritt’s story, contact Liz Collver at [email protected] or visit the CSLC website!
