K-12 Connect: Supporting Future Success
GVSU is committed to equipping students with the tools and resources they need to positively shape their lives, professions, and communities, starting BEFORE college. K-12 Connect is a gateway for the university and its students to connect and engage with K-12 schools, families, and students to support them throughout their educational journey.
Whether a student is seeking additional homework assistance or is in need of college preparation guidance, K-12 Connect bridges the gap between university support and student need to ensure everyone can succeed throughout school and beyond. Founded on the basis of providing additional resources to students and families during the recent, unprecedented transition to online learning, K-12 Connect has quickly expanded its free programs to further provide educational and mentoring services throughout the school year. See below for more information on the current programs K-12 Connect offers.
GVSU K-12 Connect Summer Closure
GVSU K-12 Connect is now closed to the general public throughout the summer. Please watch for updated information regarding the fall (coming soon).
Any schools interested in partnering with K-12 Connect for the upcoming school year may contact Amirah Vosburgh at email@example.com.
Free virtual tutoring services are available to K-12 students throughout the state of Michigan. Tutors are comprised of volunteer GVSU community members and include faculty, staff, students, alumni, retirees, etc. Volunteers have indicated grade bands and subjects they are comfortable working with and must pass a GVSU background check prior to working with students. To ensure continuity of services, there will also be a handful of students who are hired to work consistent tutoring hours and service those most in need.

College Prep Mentoring
Virtual College Prep mentors are available for high school 11th and 12th graders who are in need of individualized support around how to prepare for college successfully over the next 1-2 years. There are a limited number of virtual college prep mentors available.

Now more than ever before, GVSU students and professors are looking for ways to connect with K-12 classrooms throughout the state virtually. This program will incorporate semester long partnerships in which K-12 classrooms will work together with a GVSU professor and their students, with the goal of fostering meaningful connections and providing valuable educational opportunities.
To inquire about ways your classroom can partner with a K-12 or GVSU classroom, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
“This has been a huge help for my fully online kids. I appreciate the tutors greatly and this program. I would love to see this continue even if it wasn't for online school but even when my kids go back full time into the school system. The 1:1 connection makes it a huge difference for their education and I am grateful!”
