KCC students who want to transfer to GVSU benefit from agreement

Leaders from both institutions sign articulation agreement to improve pathways to GVSU degrees

Leaders from Grand Valley and Kellogg Community College signed an institutional articulation agreement May 5 that will provide smooth transitions for KCC students who want to continue their education at GVSU.

The agreement was signed at KCC's Binda Performing Arts Center on campus in Battle Creek. The overarching agreement between the two institutions allows seamless transfer along multiple academic pathways among various GVSU degree programs and KCC programs.

GVSU is the second-most popular destination for KCC students who transfer their credits to a four-year university. GVSU President Philomena V. Mantella said she is pleased to partner with KCC and help increase educational access for students.

"This is an important partnership as the agreement helps to ensure students who have an associate degree from KCC will not face any barriers at Grand Valley when it comes to transferring credits, receiving financial aid, duplicating coursework or any other resource a student needs," Mantella said.

KCC President Paul Watson said the articulation agreement exemplifies the schools’ continued dedication to empowering students to reach their full potential.

“Kellogg Community College is pleased to enhance its longstanding collaboration with Grand Valley State University, offering students a smoother transition from KCC to GVSU,” Watson said. “This articulation agreement reflects our ongoing commitment to providing accessible, high-quality education to our students, providing more opportunities for them to pursue higher education seamlessly."

Students must also meet all other standard admission, curriculum and graduation requirements of KCC and GVSU. Separate program agreements will be finalized between the two institutions.
