President Philomena V. Mantella discussed how REP4 is dedicated to grounding ideas in the learned experiences of today during a podcast that explores innovation in higher education.

Mantella joined the Changing Higher Ed podcast to explain how REP4, an alliance of six colleges and universities designed to address the pressing challenges of higher education, is not only mining fresh ideas from students but also helping these learners get a deeper sense of their own educational journey.

She emphasized that it is critical for the educational setting to adapt to the different backgrounds and experiences that students bring to an institution.

"I think that young people can be of help by defining what is really critical to them for the adaptations," she said, adding later that when she first arrived at Grand Valley, student voices were often the most powerful when discussing what concerned them the most.

Hear more of Mantella's conversation, including her thoughts on why Grand Valley is well-positioned to be a leader in this educational innovation.
