Grand Valley's fifth president, Philomena V. Mantella, has spent the first few days in her new role meeting with students, faculty and staff, and community leaders.

Mantella assumed her new role July 1, and has toured facilities and buildings on both the Allendale and Pew Grand Rapids campuses. She has also had meetings with representatives from Student Senate, as well as local elected officials.

On Wednesday, Mantella took time from a productive week of onboarding to explore the Grand Valley Farmer's Market, a summer favorite on campus.

Mantella said her welcome to campus has been wonderful.

"This has been an amazing first week," Mantella said. "I am inspired, energized, and it already feels like home. Thank you to all of the GVSU community for a warm welcome!"
