Grand Valley's Annis Water Resources Institute will host a special presentation about deep-water offshore wind power for Michigan, which will be hosted by Jeff Kehne, the chief development officer of Magellan Wind.

The presentation will take place March 29 at 2 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the Lake Michigan Center at AWRI, 740 West Shoreline Drive in Muskegon.

Kehne will discuss Magellan's current work surrounding the possibility of developing floating offshore wind farms in deep water areas of the Great Lakes. Magellan is currently also conducting a feasibility assessment of prospects for deploying a prototype ice-capable foundation that's tailored to conditions in the Great Lakes. The company hopes to follow the study with an initial commercial-scale project.

Kehne is also Magellan's general counsel. He is a former Department of Justice litigator, and is a graduate of Haverford College and Yale Law School.

The event is free and open to the public.
