Korean delegation visits Grand Valley

A delegation of representatives from the Beautiful Foundation in Korea visited Grand Valley June 22 to learn about nonprofit services and philanthropy at the Johnson Center for Philanthropy and the School of Public, Nonprofit and Health Administration.

The foundation first sent a delegation to Grand Valley 10 years ago to learn about philanthropic practices. The second delegation hopes to spend time learning what has changed in philanthropy in the United States over the past decade.

The delegation spent time at the Johnson Center where they learned about the way the center serves nonprofit organizations and foundations, and also met with Sal Alaimo, assistant professor of nonprofit management, and watched a film he produced called "What is Philanthropy?"

Other activities the delegation will participate in during their trip include meeting with leaders at the Council of Michigan Foundations and Learning To Give to learn ways to share philanthropy with their local communities.
