FTLC sets workshops, annual conference

The Pew FTLC will host workshops, orientation and an annual conference before the start of the fall semester.

The Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center will host workshops for new full- and part-time faculty members in addition to the annual Fall Teaching Conference.

• Tuesday, August 18, noon-4 p.m., Lake Ontario Hall, room 168: Teaching Innovation Workshop — Faculty members will present concurrent sessions on active learning;

• Wednesday, August 19, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Kirkhof Center, room 2204: University Orientation for New Full- and Part-Time Faculty — Day includes an IT workshop and an overview of services and resources. This event is hosted by the Office of the Provost.

• Tuesday, August 25, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Seidman Center: Integrated Course Design — Facilitated by Stewart Ross, from Dee Fink and Associates, participants will better understand how to use the integrated course design model.

• Wednesday, August 26, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Eberhard Center: 21st Annual Fall Teaching Conference — Ross will give an opening presentation; the conference will describe a framework for designing significant learning experiences, faculty highlights, table discussions and a resource exhibit round out the event.
