Student comedians roasted Grand Valley and President Thomas J. Haas March 31 all for a good cause.

The Roast of Grand Valley, held in the 48 West Commons, was organized by Student Senator Tim Layer with help from classmates in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Proceeds benefitted the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Student comics were Layer, Jarrett Weber, Luis Valencia, AJ Rank, Lewis Stone, along with alumnus James Morton. They told jokes and stories about Grand Valley and poked fun at the University Bookstore, tuition rates, the pendulum and Haas.

Haas took his turn the end of the event and roasted all of the comedians that participated.

The event raised more than $350 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“This was all in good fun because we all love GV and it is great to give to a great cause,” said Layer. “We hope to continue this as a tradition.”
