Grand Valley hosts largest rugby tournament

Grand Valley hosted the 2014 American Collegiate Rugby Association’s women’s 7s inaugural national tournament May 2-3.

Twenty-two teams from across the U.S., including Grand Valley’s women’s rugby club, competed on the recreational fields on the Allendale Campus. Division I, II and III teams participated, including Wayne State, U.S. Air Force Academy, Norwich and Notre Dame College.

Eric Garvelink, club sports coordinator in Student Life, said Grand Valley put in a bid to host the tournament, which marked the largest women’s rugby 7s national championship in the U.S.
