Grand Valley State University offers a variety of graduate-level coursework in computing for virtually everyone. You don't necessarily need a formal degree in computing in order to pursue graduate-level coursework at GVSU.
Options for People Who are New to Computing

If you currently have minimal computing skills, we have several options to help you get started in computing.
- CIS 161 - Computational Science (3 credits)
- CIS 162 - Computer Science I (4 credits)
- CIS 163 - Computer Science II (4 credits)

Options for Advancing Your Computer Skills

If you have some computing skills but would like to progress in order to advance in your career, consider taking individual computing courses or pursuing a digital badge from the School of Computing and Information Systems.
- Computing Courses: students with the appropriate targeted background can take individual courses from the School of Computing and Information Systems. We offer a wide variety of courses in diverse subject areas such as mobile computing, cryptography, project management, web development, and databases.
- Digital Badges: digital badges, consisting of 3 or more courses, are also available for those looking for something more than a single class or two.
Options for Undergraduate Students

If you are currently an undergraduate student at GVSU, we have several combined degree options that make getting your MS-CIS degree even easier. If you aren't a computing undergraduate, there is an individualized combined degree option that allows you to create a program tailored to you.
