Blackboard Collaborate Launcher Quick Reference Guide

The Blackboard Collaborate Launcher is a utility for Windows and Mac that provides a convenient and reliable way for you to launch your Blackboard Collaborate web conferencing sessions and recordings. When you click a session or recording link, Blackboard Collaborate checks to see if you have the launcher installed and, if you don't, prompts you to download it.

Blackboard offers "Getting Started" Training for Faculty 


  • Choose Blackboard Collaborate(for web conferencing)  or Blackboard Learn for other aspects of BB
  • Choose Online Training
  •  Add the "Blackboard Collaborate: Getting Started" course to your cart and check out (you will need to create an account if you do not already have one)  this is FREE!
  •  Log into the course center (using same credentials you created on the training center)


  • Go to Teaching & Learning tab
  • Choose "Getting Started" under "My Courses" in the right hand corner
  • Go through the modules for the training and you are all set!

Mac users: If your Java version is out of date, click on the  icon at the top left of your screen. From the drop down menu that appears, select "Software Update" and then "Install". You may need to restart your computer after the update.
