Laker Experience Day

Join us for a Virtual Laker Experience Day this fall designed specifically for high school seniors and their parents/supporters, and then schedule an on-campus tour at your convenience.

    This one-hour live Zoom webinar is intended to help students and their families discover why Grand Valley State University is the right fit for them. Attendees are also invited to join one of our student-led walking tours offered in combination with our Virtual Laker Experience Day (additional information provided in registration confirmation).

    Join us for an in-person campus visit! Visits include socially distanced group presentations and campus tours.

    Due to current capacity limits, if the site says "Unavailable/Filled", all in-person visit opportunities are currently at capacity. This site is updated in real-time. Cancellations may occur, and any openings in visit opportunities will be displayed in green on the link below when available.

    WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT OF GVSU:
    Grand Valley State University’s full statement about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and ongoing updates are available here. If you have questions about an upcoming visit after reviewing this information, please contact the Admissions Office at (616) 331-2025 or admissions@gvsu.edu.

    The health and safety of our visitors and staff is our highest priority. The following measures are being taken at this time:

    • Visits will have a reduced capacity in order to comply with current recommendations and requirements. 
    • Presentation spaces have been modified to allow distancing between families.
    • All GVSU employees are required to complete an online health assessment every day before coming to campus. 
    • Areas of campus accessible to visitors are being cleaned frequently.

    WHAT VISITORS SHOULD KNOW:
    Party size
     is limited to 4 visitors (you and 3 guests).

    Face covering policy (Face Covering Policy Revisions effective August, 9th, 2021):

    • Face coverings will be required in all indoor spaces for all faculty, staff, students, and visitors on our campuses.
    • Individuals who are unable to wear a face-covering due to a medical condition are asked to participate in one of our many virtual visit options.
    • All guests will be required to complete a brief online Health Self-Assessment prior to participating in the campus presentation and tour.
    • Complete the online Health Assessment on the day of your visit. Each member of your party will need to present a screenshot of the final submission indicating a green checkmark.
    • If you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to your visit, or have any symptoms related to COVID-19, you will receive a red circle and are asked to reschedule your visit for another date.

    Join our Detroit-based Admissions staff for an info session and Q&A to help you consider your options at GVSU. This is an in-person event specifically for students in Southeast Michigan. Families are welcome, too!

      Join an Admissions representative for an International Transfer Presentation, designed specifically for International Transfer Students! This hour-long virtual session is for international transfer students thinking about transferring to GVSU. It is designed to answer your questions about how to transfer and where to start with the transfer process. This presentation is held through Zoom.

      School/Organization Group Visit

      The Admissions Office is happy to host group visits for educational organizations. Visits include socially distanced group presentations, followed by a campus tour. These group visits are designed specifically for schools/educational organizations looking to bring a group to campus. Scheduled in-person groups should have a minimum of 10 visitors and a maximum of 30.

      Group visit requests should be submitted at least two weeks in advance to ensure availability. Once a request is submitted, an Admissions staff member will contact you to confirm visit date/details. If a request is submitted over the weekend, you will receive a response in 1-2 business days. Please review the Group Visit Guidelines and COVID Policies below before completing the Group Visit Request Form.

      Group Visit Guidelines

      • Virtual and in-person group visits are offered Tuesday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
      • Visits that include a presentation and campus tour will last approximately 2 hours.
      • Some accommodations may be unavailable during the spring/summer months or during GVSU school breaks.
      • Group visits are scheduled based on availability. Every attempt is made to accommodate date/time requests, however, office hours and campus events may limit availability.
      • Lunch is provided at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Lunch is provided at 1:00PM on Wednesdays.
      • Please let us know in advance if there are any special accommodations required.
      • Specific visit details can be discussed with the Admissions staff member during the visit confirmation process.
