The Vagina Monologues at GVSU Feb 12-14, 2010 What is V-Day? • V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM) and sexual slavery. Through V-Day campaigns, local volunteers and college students produce annual benefit performances of “The Vagina Monologues” to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups within their own communities. In 2006, over 2700 V-Day benefit events took place produced by volunteer activists in the U.S. and around the world, educating millions of people about the reality of violence against women and girls. • More information about V- Day and The Vagina Monologues can be found www.vday.org What is V-Day at GVSU? • GVSU has sponsored The Vagina Monologues, as a part of the V-Day College Campaign, since 2002. It is a volunteer production, organized and performed primarily by GVSU students. All of the proceeds go to organizations working to END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. If you have any questions about how you can get involved, contact the Women's Center at womenctr@gvsu.edu. When and where are the AUDITIONS being held? • Nov 6th 3-6 pm @ Kirkhof 2266 • Nov 7th 10-4 pm @ Women Center • Nov 8th 12-6 pm @ Women Center Who can audtion? * Anyone who idnetifies as a women from the GVSU community is welcome to audtion. you do not need to have theatre experience. When and where is the TVM 2010 production being held? • February 12th & 13th @ 7:00pm (Allendale High School Auditorium) • February 14th 2pm Matinee @ Wealthy Theatre (Grand Rapids) So, none of the performances will be on the Allendale campus? * No, none of the performances will be on campus, be we are working to securing busses for the Friday and Saturday performances. Where can I buy the tickets for TVM? • The GVSU 20/20 Information Desk is in the GVSU Kirkhof Center. 20/20 can be reached by calling (616) 331-2020. Or you can purchase through Star Ticket Plus (www.starticketplus.com). TICKETS WILL NOT GO ON SALE UNTIL MID- JANUARY, 2010! What are the ticket prices? • Student Tickets are $10 and non-students $25. (If tickets are purchased in advance) • Tickets at door $25 How can I get to the Allendale High School Auditorium? • There will be a bus ride provided to the Allendale High School on February 12th and 13th for the showing of the Vagina Monologues. The bus will depart from the Kirkhof Center at 6:00 pm and take to the Allendale high School. Once the show is done there will be a bus to transport you back to GVSU. What are the addresses for Allendale High School and Wealthy Theatre? • Allendale High School 10760 68th Ave Allendale, MI 49401 • Wealthy Street Theater 1130 Wealthy St. SE Grand Rapids, Michigan 49506 Can men come to a TVM show? • Anyone with a ticket is able to enter the show and this includes men. Can kids come to the performances of The Vagina Monologues? • There is not a rating for the Vagina Monologues, however it does contain mature content. Therefore, we leave it up to the parents/ guardian's discretion.
